Meanwhile, Kolkata not just broke the record but also trashed the hopes of Paltan fans in the ongoing tournament. Mumbai Indians has only won 3 matches in the 11 matches they have played and is at 9th position right now following RCB at number 10, but they still have 4 more matches to play before the business end.

This is the seventh time when Mumbai Indians have not qualified for the play offs in the IPL history. This year the buzz is also around the change in the captaincy, as Hardik Pandya replaced Rohit Sharma. In post-match presentation Hardik Pandya showed disappointment on the batting performance, he said, "I mean obviously in the batting inning, we couldn’t form partnerships and kept losing wickets, in T20s if you don’t form partnerships, it will cost you. Not much, there are a lot of questions but that will take some time to answer but for now, not much to say."

"As you mentioned, the bowlers did a fantastic job, the wicket got a little better after the first innings, the dew came on. We will go through the game and see what could we have done better," He complimented Mumbai's bowling performance for restricting KKR at 170.

While on the future proceedings in the league Pandya said, "You keep fighting, that is what I tell to myself, never leave the battlefield, tough days come but good also come here, it’s challenging but challenges make you better."
