Serum Institute of India (SII), which produces AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccine under the brand name Covishield in India, is facing a lawsuit in the country, a day after the latter admitted its vaccine can, in rare cases, cause a side effect resulting in a serious blood clot-related ailment, a rare side-effect: Thrombosis Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (TTS). This is a condition where blood clots form in unusual places in the body and the number of platelets in the blood drops.

3 Reasons why you should not worry about the side-effects of Covishield:

As it is already concluded that the side effect occur only in rare conditions and the rare signifies as one in millions. So you don't have to worry about the side-effects, even the unfortunate death which occured earlier was the only case till now.

Secondly, if the side-effect of the vaccine was to occure it could have been occured soon after the injection within 3 days. People who are worrying about the side effects should not worry now as its already been years since we took our vaccines.

Links between the AstraZeneca vaccine and vaccine-induced immune TTS have been scientifically identified since early 2021, soon after the first COVID-19 vaccines had come out. However, it is so very rare — a few dozen reported cases among the millions administered — that even the World Health Organisation has deemed the vaccine “safe and effective” for all individuals aged 18 and above. Moreover, even influenza, H1N1 and rabies vaccines can cause TTS in very rare instances.
